The California Senate asked the State Council on Developmental Disabilities (SCDD) to bring different people together in three statewide representative Work Groups to think about different ways people with developmental disabilities spend their time in paid work and other activities. The State Council provided a report to the Senate with ten recommendations for change.
Individuals with developmental disabilities took the lead in identifying recommendations to the California legislature on developmental services system improvements for meaningful outcomes and improved quality of life. With stakeholders from across the state, they helped develop an inclusive approach to policy making and developed reports delivered to legislators and community groups in accessible multi-media formats and “plain language.”
